Cataract Surgery

Dr. Busack specializes in precise, no-stitch, technologically advanced, small incision cataract surgery in a relaxed and comfortable setting. He completes the procedure without injections around the eye, and patients usually leave without a patch or shield.

Cataracts occur when the natural lens becomes cloudy. With cataract surgery, this lens is removed and replaced by a crystal clear intraocular lens (IOL). For active patients who want to return to exercise or more strenuous activity, Dr. Busack offers surgery with a single small suture, which provides improved security and stability for early return to normal activities.

Intraocular Lens (IOL) Options

  1. Standard Intraocular Lens (IOL):
Dr. Busack uses the highest quality single focus implants available that incorporate UV filters and the latest advancements in this type of IOL. These single focus implants are covered by most insurance policies and may provide improved distance or near vision but not both.
  2. Toric Intraocular & Multifocal Lens (Premium IOL):
Dr. Busack has extensive experience in the use of the most advanced Premium Intraocular Lens (IOL) available in the U.S. These include ReSTOR, Tecnis Multifocal, Crystalens and Toric IOLs. Toric intraocular lenses are available to help correct higher degrees of astigmatism.

Multifocal lenses provide both distance and near vision for those who prefer to limit the amount of time that they wear glasses. With both Toric and Multifocal Premium Intraocular Lenses (IOL), there are extra costs that are not paid by insurance companies.
